The Ann Korologos Gallery in Basalt, a showcase for contemporary Western art, is hosting the group exhibition Working the Land, putting a spotlight on ranch and range. The show includes the work of Donna Howell-Sickles, Peggy Judy, Simon Winegar and Denver-based artist Terry Gardner. Compositions on view such as “Family of Pines” and “High Noon” by Gardner depict intimate moments in different corners of the American West. “Two Riders from Chico” captures a pair of wranglers riding on the nearly 100,000-acre Chico Basin Ranch as cattle are rotated among the pastures. “The painting is an invitation to experience life as a rancher in the American West,” Gardner says, “a life few imagine and few experience.”
