A few words from our featured artists:

Dan Young:  Young’s work feels familiar to those who know the wild of the West, sometimes taking the viewer right back to an experience and place. Whether capturing the many colors of snow, the brilliant light of the moon, the shape of a mountain shadow, or a particular grouping of trees, it is his practice as a keen observer that differentiates his work. “It’s about simplifying what I am seeing, and understanding how much I can leave out, while still capturing the essence. In that sense, painting becomes my language,” shares Young.

Sarah Lamb:  Sarah Lamb is a talented and dynamic realist painter. With classical skill—through transparency, depth and texture—she captures the minute details of everyday objects in her dramatic still lifes and luscious landscapes. She makes us love the familiar and see beauty in the mundane. “Sarah Lamb brings to her work a robustly sensual grasp of the world. Her keenness of eye and joyful brush make the whole enterprise feel freshly alive as she reminds us what the really wonderful things in life are.”  – John A. Parks

Sherrie York:  Printmaker, painter and draughtswoman Sherrie York is an accomplished artist with an international reputation for lyrical and expressive works on paper. The beauty and mysteries she discovers on her walks inspire York’s nature-focused linocuts. Her printmaker’s eye is drawn to intricate flora, the behavior of birds, and patterns across land and seascapes.

Terry Gardner:  As an artist, Terry Gardner dives into the history of the American West as it relates to modern day. He honors what was and what is, with a certain nostalgia. “It is the balance of opposites: precision and suggestion, fact and feeling, holding on and letting go.”– Terry Gardner

About the Gallery:

The Ann Korologos Gallery gives nuance to the idea of ‘Western art’, tapping into the American West and frontier culture as an inspiration for their collections. Focused on American artists working across various media from painting and photography to sculpture and print-making, Ann Korologos Gallery is an unmissable, distinctively Coloradan bulwark of the Rocky Mountains’ arts scene. Located outside of Aspen in the small town of Basalt, numerous artists featured at the gallery channel the town’s idyllic surroundings into their artistic vision, with particular reference to the town’s reputation as a mountain fishing Mecca.

“Our goal is for everyone who knows our gallery to learn and see something new with every experience,” shares gallery owner, Ann Korologos. “Not only will you find art you’d love to live with, you’ll come away with a deeper understanding of our artists, their styles, and contemporary Western Art. Our staff is extremely knowledgeable, and our gallery dogs are happy to say hello any day of the week.”
