About this work
With Goodbye Sweet Day, it reminds me of the moment when you think, “The day’s done, and let’s go back to the house.” I get that from my farm roots. I guess it’s a sunset, but not in your typical orange ball going down behind the horizon. Sometimes when I’m trying to paint I think of the season, too. What’s the difference between a mid-summer sky and mid-winter sky? I think of this one as Fall. It’s not real bright like Summer. More wintery, but without the snow. It feels like that kind of light. I love Fall. It’s cooling down, the colors are so nice. Winter I like until about half way through.
