Third Fly's A Charm

Would you believe that Joel Ostlind, traveling with his small press, would

charm and inform so many people in a demonstration of his etching process.

Joel spoke and demonstrated his etching process on the traditional copper

plate a couple of weeks ago at our very own Wyly Community Arts Center here

in Basalt.  It is conveniently around the corner from the BASALT GALLERY and

was followed by a wonderful show of his works.  Most have sold and it was a

great energizer for a winter show. Joel is self taught…widely

collected…and spent much of his life herding cattle on horses.  I saw Joel

this year again at the Coors Western Art Show….by the way a good show this

year with wonderful attendance.  I guess many of us know that in this

economy art is still an escape, a wonderful ownership experience and

supports the best part of life…our creative yearning.
