BIRD NESTS & THEIR FLOCK

Ann Korologos Gallery is proud to present the amazing new Nest Series by Marie Figge Wise, printed at Andersen Ranch and available now at our gallery. Our friend and master printmaker, Craig O’Brien, saw the series installed in the gallery and said, amongst other things (read below), “Those little pieces are very simple, very rich. The drawing had great line quality; it had depth; a certain richness on the heavier areas that bring a lot of light through it, which is really important with printmaking. When I see that it always gets my attention because you don’t see that very often.”

Enjoy this selection of works highlighting birds and their homes, including works by Sherrie York, Dinah Worman, Mike Weber, and Neil Clifford.

Also, be sure to Save These Dates for our last events of the Summer:

Friday, August 20th from 5 to 7PM: Meet Andy Taylor and Allison Stewart at the Opening Reception for One West, Three Perspectives.

Thursday, August 26th from 4 to 6PM:
Artist Demonstration with Sherrie York sharing the linocut printmaking process.

August 18th: The final day to view Dinah Worman: Near & Far.

“The [Nest Series by Marie Figge Wise] are very simple, very rich. The drawing had great line quality; it had depth; a certain richness on the heavier areas that bring a lot of light through it, which is really important with printmaking. When I see that It always gets my attention because you don’t see that very often. It looked like she intended every mark. There were no mistakes, and that’s unusual in printmaking. When I work with artists doing monotypes; if you look like you intended every line and mark, then it was successful.”

~Craig O’Brien, master printmaker

O’Brien has worked with virtually every big name in American art: Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Willem de Kooning, Larry Rivers, Claes Oldenburg, Roy Lichtenstein, Ivan Chermayeff.
