Ann Korologos Gallery presents From the Heart… of the Rockies, a group exhibition of small works representing the beauty of the West through ceramics, mixed-media work, prints, paintings, photographs and sculpture by featured artists Mike Weber, Michael Wisner and more. On view November through December 2019 at Ann Korologos Gallery in historic downtown Basalt.
“In the spirit of the holiday season and the joy of giving, From the Heart… of the Rockies offers a collection of artful, unique gifts that are created from the heart of our artists, and in the spirit of the Rocky Mountains,” shares gallery director Sue Edmonds. “Our knowledgeable staff will help you find amazing and affordable one-of-a-kind works inspired by our exquisite surrounds that are sure to resonate with those on your gift list this holiday season.”
The exhibition features collections of locally inspired works: ceramics inspired by nature’s patterns and forms by local artist Michael Wisner, who crafts handmade clay from the red clay of the Roaring Fork Valley; modern mixed-media works by Mike Weber, who pairs gold and silver leaf with his wildlife photography to create animal portraits that are both haunting and humorous; watercolors of local landscapes by Leon Loughridge, and works from nearly 40 artists whose breadth and depth of style and subject appeal to the passions and palette of those who love the West.
“We love the joy and generosity of the holiday season, and this show warms my heart knowing many of these works will be gifted and become part of the family,” shares Ann Korologos. “We are thrilled to guide you through the ‘Art of Gifting,’ knowing that the diverse selection, moods, and passions of our artists will match the sentiment of the gift.”
In addition to the featured artists, discover local artists such as Dan Young, Andy Taylor, Michael Fain, and Sandy Kaplan. Laugh with the whimsical humor and love that Donna Howell-Sickles, Peggy Judy, and Paula Schuette-Kraemer portray between people and pets. Feel the mood and majesty of the mountains in works by Peter Campbell, Simon Winegar, and Marie Figge Wise. Brighten any space with colorful still lifes by Angus Wilson. Bring the textures of the West into your home with sculptures by Lisa Gordon, Gordon Gund, Amy Lauguesen, and Lloyd Schermer.
As a premier source for Western Art in the Aspen area, and a popular destination for local art lovers and tourists alike, Ann Korologos Gallery is an oasis for those seeking out traditional styles and techniques, as well as ‘outside the box’ works that reveal the essence of the West.
