Ann Korologos Gallery presents Unrestrained, an all-women’s group exhibition showcasing the uncensored creations depicting works that evoke contemplation in the viewer. Each artist explores a truth about her inner and outer landscape, employing her mastery of the chosen medium. Represented by Ann Korologos Gallery and featured with new works in this exhibition are Margaretta Caesar, Alexandra Eldridge, Heather Foster, Veryl Goodnight, Lisa Gordon, Donna Howell-Sickles, Paula Schuette Kraemer, Sarah Lamb, Amy Laugesen, Amy Lay, Linda Lillegraven, Deborah Paris, Kate Starling, Allison Stewart, Sabrina Stiles, Marie Figge Wise, Diana Woods and Sherrie York. Unrestrained is on view March 1 to March 31, 2025 at Ann Korologos Gallery in Basalt, Colorado and virtually at korologosgallery.com.
Ann Korologos, the gallery’s namesake and art afficionado, once said, “These women are not afraid to explore, to imagine, to create, to redefine, to compete. As a group, their work is fresh, diverse, bold, refined, playful, and exploratory. We celebrate them not for being women, but for being exceptional.”
Diana Woods, Amy Lay and Donna Howell-Sickles reimagine the narrative of ranch life, from the strength of women on the range to the animals that they befriend and admire. Paula Schuette Kramer and Sherrie York take very different approaches to printmaking, one loose and the other tight, but unite with careful observation and reverence for wildlife. Alexandra Eldridge, Allison Stewart and Deborah Paris employ mixed media to process impacts to the world around them. Heather Foster's talents convey the spirit of her subjects, while Linda Lillegraven's capture the spirit of the land. Lisa Gordon and Amy Laugesen display their reverence for horses and history through bronze and ceramic. Marie Figge Wise, a painter, Sabrina Stiles, a pastelist, and Veryl Goodnight, a painter and bronze sculptor, all seize the powerful mood of the moment. Sarah Lamb is an award-winning realist still life painter, and Dinah Worman paints the landscape as though it were a still life. Margaretta Caesar paints from memory, and Kate Starling paints en plein air, yet they both produce luminous landscapes full of mystery and light.
“We don’t often stop to say an artist is a man, for, historically, they mostly have been,” reflects Sue Edmonds, gallery director. “However, our all-women-run gallery also proudly represents a roster of artists that are extraordinary in the execution and intention of their work, and half of them are women. We don’t often point this out, but during Women’s History Month, I want to acknowledge these artists and our team for the exceptional work they do.”
