August has been teeming with artist receptions and vibrant new works. We welcomed Peter Campbell and Rick Stevens from Santa Fe, NM for the opening reception of Notes on Light: Rick Stevens and Peter Campbell on August 2 (on view through August 18th). August 8th we held Allison Stewart and Marie Figge Wise in the spotlight for a vibrant reception with friends and a lot of art taken home to live with! Notes on Light: Rick Stevens & Peter Campbell features two Santa Fe-based artists who explore western landscapes – Aspen groves, brilliant open skies, ponderosas in winter – with a mystical, dreamlike abstraction, dynamic texture, and eye for light. Allison Stewart’s abstract landscape paintings express commentary on the beauty, destruction, and personification of the natural world and her own inner landscape. Marie Figge Wise explores mixed media works including monotypes, gum arabic transfers, etching and Chine Collé in addition to landscape paintings in the diffused, tonal style lauded by collectors.
