About this work
Paula's work happens in distinct stages, beginning with design and concept. She draws and works out her design on mylar allowing her to heavy-handedly erase as well as providing a working surface similar to ink on a copper plate. Next, she translates the drawing to plates and runs them through the press to flesh out the design, working in reverse. She then moves to the proofing stage, where experimentation with color, plates, and paper allow her to develop a printing "recipe." Lastly, she pulls the final images, which she does in small editions of 15 to 20 prints. Some prints incorporate mixed media, in which she explores layering materials. This work is the last available print of the "On the Path" edition.
